Albert Brettner

Albert Maria Brettner OSB (born July 21, 1928 in Göggingen ; † September 9, 1987 ) was a German Benedictine and abbot .

Life

On September 12, 1949, he made his profession in the Benedictine Abbey of St. Stephan in Augsburg and was ordained a priest on March 22, 1953 . In 1970 he became the eighth abbot of his monastery (elected on February 14, 1970, appointed on March 30, 1970). He held this office until his death.

From 1978 to 1984 he was also elected President of the Bavarian Benedictine Congregation .

Honors

He was also given the honorary title of Spiritual Counselor .
