August Ferdinand Albert Eiteljörge (born February 29, 1864 in Hamma , † September 7, 1941 in Jerichow ) was a German homeland researcher.

Life

After attending an elementary school, Eiteljörge completed a teaching seminar. He then worked as a teacher at the elementary school in Buch (Elbe) until Easter 1902 and in 1902 became the main teacher at the elementary school in Jerichow. From 1910 he was principal of the school. He campaigned for the construction of a new school building, which was finally completed in 1925 after many years of efforts. In 1925 he retired.

He earned lasting services as a local researcher in the Elbe-Havel region around Jerichow. Special emphasis was placed on the history of the city and the Jerichow monastery . In 1925 he published the first coherent account of the history of Jerichow. He also worked on the first translation of a document from 1172 in which Archbishop Wichmann commented on the foundation of the monastery. For the first time, Eiteljörge sifted through the entire material in the Jerichow Municipal Archives and evaluated it. He published his work results in many press publications and brochures.
