Albert Guinovart i Mingacho

Albert Guinovart i Mingacho (born February 18, 1962 in Barcelona ) is a Catalan composer, classical pianist and music teacher.

life and work

Guinovart studied at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona . He completed postgraduate studies in piano with Maria Curcio in London.

In addition to his many years of activity as a concert pianist, Guinovert has created numerous musical works, including for cinema and television. Particularly noteworthy in the field of light music are the musical Mar i cel (1988, The Sky and the Sea), the soundtrack for the film El largo invierno (1992, Jaime Camino ) and the soundtracks for the series Nissaga de poder (The Family Clan ), Laberint d'ombres (The Labyrinth of Shadows) and El cor de la ciutat (The Heart of the City). In the field of classical music, the following compositions deserve special mention: the cantata Els fills del segle (1994, The Children of the Century), his concerto for flute, piano and orchestra (1998) and his concerto for clarinet and orchestra (1999). He has also reworked various operas by Xavier Montsalvatge and the Goyescas by Enrique Granados for chamber orchestra. Since 1999 he has been working with the Compañía Nacional de Danza , the Spanish State Ballet in Madrid.

Guinovart has been teaching composition and orchestration at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona since 2002 .
