politics

Gunzer was heavily involved in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WK) and was active from 1990 to 1995 in the “Paints-Coatings-Chemicals” committee of the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce . Between 1995 and 2000 he was deputy head of the board, as well as a member of the Chamber of Commerce committee of the Klagenfurt district and vocational training committee. From 2000 to May 2006 Gunzer was a member of the board of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, member of the federal committee of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, deputy chairman of the regional committee of the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce, member of the finance committee of the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the “Paints and Paints” committee at the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce . As his highest office in the Carinthian Chamber of Commerce, Gunzer held the function of Vice President between October 2000 and May 2006.

In addition to his work in the Chamber of Commerce, Gunzer was also an expert lay judge at the Klagenfurt Regional Court from 1997 to 2001 and a member of the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Klagenfurt AG and of BABEG from 2003 to 2005 .

Gunzer was sworn in as a member of the FPÖ in the Carinthian state parliament on March 31, 2004, but, like almost all Carinthian FPÖ members, changed to the BZÖ after the split. He was a member of the Committee on Economics, Finance, Infrastructure, Housing and Transport. On April 4, 2006, he left the state parliament after taking over the office of City Council for Culture and Municipal Services in Klagenfurt on March 21. Gunzer also took second place in the 2009 municipal council elections in Klagenfurt and was sent back to the city senate due to the great success of the BZÖ in Klagenfurt. From April 2009 Albert Gunzer was 1st Vice Mayor of the state capital Klagenfurt. He was also a consultant for finance, economy and culture.

On October 1, 2014 Gunzer announced that he would run for the municipal council election on March 1, 2015 in Klagenfurt with his own list of names. The reason for this step should be internal party differences that have existed for a long time, especially with Mayor Christian Scheider . On October 3, Gunzer agreed in a conversation with Scheider that he would step down from all of his previous political functions until October 17, 2014.
