Albert Ireton (born May 15, 1879 in Baldock , † January 4, 1947 in Stevenage ) was a British athlete who competed in boxing and tug-of-war at the 1908 Olympic Games in London .

At the Olympic Games of 1908 Ireton won the gold medal in the tug of war with the British team . The silver and bronze medals also went to British teams. Ireton, like all team members of all three British teams, worked as a police officer.

Ireton's crew was called the London City Police . In the final of the competition on July 18, 1908, the London City Police beat the second-placed team, titled as the Liverpool Police Team .

On October 27, 1908, three months after the final in the tug of war and four days before the end of the games, Ireton also competed in the Olympic boxing competition . In the heavyweight division he lost his first round opponent Sydney Evans by KO shortly after start of the fight in round first
