Albert Newen

Albert Newen (born 1964 in Neuerburg ) is a German philosopher.

Life

Albert Newen studied philosophy, psychology and history from 1985 to 1990 at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg im Breisgau and at the University of Bielefeld , where he wrote his dissertation Context, Reference and Meaning in 1994 . A theory of meaning of singular terms with Eike von Savigny and Wolfgang Spohn was doctorated. From 1996 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Bonn , where he completed his habilitation in 2001 with theories of self-confidence . In 2002/03 he was a fellow at the Hanse-Wissenschaftskolleg . In 2003 he was appointed professor for philosophy with a focus on philosophy of language and philosophy of mind at the University of Tübingen . Since 2007 he has been teaching philosophy at the Ruhr University Bochum .

He is married to the physicist Martina Havenith-Newen , who teaches in Bochum .
