Albert Pellens

Albert Pellens (* 1893 ; † 1967 in Hameln ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian , superintendent in Hameln, long-time chairman of the regional association of the Evangelical Federation of Hanover and namesake of the Albert Pellens Prize.

Life

Albert Pellens studied Protestant theology at the University of Göttingen . There he became a member of the Göttingen Wingolf in 1912 . After completing his studies, he worked as a parish pastor before he became pastor of the market church in Hameln in 1935 . He was in charge of this during the entire Second World War. After the war, Pellens became the first superintendent of the newly founded church district of Hameln as well as chairman of the regional association of the Evangelical Federation of Hanover before he retired in 1961.

Since Pellens was committed to ecumenism throughout his life, the Albert Pellens Prize was donated to him in honor of the Evangelical Association, the denominational and ecumenical work of the Evangelical Church in Germany, once a year for theological work in the field of denominational and ecumenical matters Learning is bestowed.
