Alberto Ongarato
Alberto Ongarato (born July 24, 1975 in Padua ) is a former Italian cyclist .
Alberto Ongarato began his career in 1998 with the Ballan cycling team . In his second year he was third in the German one-day race around the Henninger tower .
After the 2002 Giro d'Italia , Ongarato was banned for six months for possession of various banned substances - NESP, hashish and caffeine.
In 2004 came to Fassa Bortolo , where he mainly worked as a driver for Alessandro Petacchi . He remained part of the Petacchi train until the end of the 2009 season and changed teams with it. During this time, he was also able to achieve his own success through stage wins in the Tour of Portugal , the Tour of Luxembourg and the Tour de la Région Wallonne .
In the last two years of his career - 2010 and 2011 - he rode for the Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team , which he promised to achieve more individual successes. He won the Ronde van Drenthe 2010 for this team .
