Albrecht Hüni
Albrecht Rudolf Hanns Hüni-Michel (born October 2, 1920 in Therwil , † June 1, 2014 in Basel ) was a Swiss biochemist .
Life
Albrecht Hüni was a biochemist at CIBA AG , where he was involved in the development of several drugs. In his later life he mainly devoted himself to patent protection of drugs.
Services
In 1959, Hüni first synthesized xylometazoline in collaboration with CIBA AG and then patented it. Xylometazoline is still used as an active ingredient in nasal sprays and drops to reduce swelling of the nasal mucous membranes.
