Albrecht Heise

Albrecht Heise (* 1907 ; † January 1998 ) was a German linguist and literary scholar .

Life

Heise studied at the universities of Munich and Greifswald and became a grammar school teacher in Cologne in 1935 , where he worked until 1945. From 1936 to 1938 he also worked as a lecturer in Marseille and Glasgow .

After the Second World War he was initially a translator for the British occupation authorities. From 1948 to 1950 he taught German and English at the Lower Saxony Home School Iburg in Bad Iburg and was appointed to the Adolf Reichwein University of Celle as a specialist lecturer for didactics of English .

When the university was relocated to Osnabrück in 1953 , Heise came there as a professor of English and didactics of English language and literature. He worked at this university for over 20 years and was also a member of the founding senate of the University of Osnabrück , of which he was a member until his retirement in 1974.
