Albrecht I (Mecklenburg-Stargard)

Albrecht I, Duke of Mecklenburg [-Stargard] (* before 1377; † between February 11 and July 15, 1397 in Dorpat ) was Duke of Mecklenburg-Stargard , 1393 Canon of Schwerin and from 1396 to 1397 coadjutor of the Bishop of Dorpat .

He was the child from the third marriage of Duke Johann I and his wife Agnes.

biography

Albrecht I was probably born before 1382 and ruled together with his brother Johann II and Ulrich I.

In 1393 he was named as Schwerin Canon in the register of the University of Heidelberg .

In 1395 he went to Livonia to become coadjutor with the bishop of Dorpat Dietrich Damerau . There he arbitrated a dispute between the bishop and the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order Konrad von Jungingen . At the beginning of the year 1396 the Grand Master wrote that the Bishop of Dorpat had invited one of the Lords of Meklenburg to him, had given him several castles and that he wanted to bring his diocese into his hands . Between February 11 and July 15, Albrecht zu Dorpat died and was buried there.
