Albrecht Ziemer

Albrecht Ziemer (* 1940 ) is the former production director of ZDF and received the Order of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany from Prime Minister Kurt Beck on December 22, 2003 .

As Technical Director, Ziemer led ZDF into the digital world and built up a modern and sustainable service structure at ZDF. He was responsible for the introduction of digital television in more than 10 bodies across Europe.

After completing his doctorate as a Dr. Ing. Worked as a calculation engineer in engine construction at MTU and then for 14 years in the Dornier Group. There he built up the "civil business" division and from 1976 was also authorized signatory and division manager for the IT division.

Ziemer has a teaching position at the University of Konstanz and is a member of the "Münchner Kreis" for information and communication research and of the Executive Committee of the Montreux International Television Symposium. The oldest technical university in Germany, the TU Braunschweig, awarded the outgoing ZDF production director the honorary degree and dignity of doctoral engineer in recognition of his outstanding achievements for the development of television technology in Europe, which is particularly evident in the introduction of PALplus in numerous countries.

Albrecht Ziemer is chairman of the supervisory board of plazz entertainment AG.
