Albuin of Merseburg (also Albuwin ; † October 22, 1112 ) was the twelfth bishop of Merseburg from 1096/97 to 1112 .

Life

Albuin came from Bavaria . After three or four years of vacancy , he was appointed bishop in 1096 or 1097. On July 26, 1096 he was present at the consecration of the Pegau monastery . He is said to have been appointed bishop by King Henry IV in 1097 (?). In 1105 Albuin transferred the tithe of some villages to the Pegau monastery. In 1107 or 1108 he was named as a co-author of an alleged appeal by East German bishops to regain Slavic territories for the Church. On May 30, 1108, he and some of the alleged senders and addressees were in Merseburg with Heinrich V.

In 1112 Albuin developed a fever and died on October 22nd.
