Albyn was a whiskey distillery in Campbeltown , Argyll and Bute , Scotland . It should not be confused with the former Glen Albyn distillery in Inverness .

The distillery was founded by William McKersie in 1830 and remained in family ownership, which also included the Lochruan distillery , until it closed in 1927 .

When Alfred Barnard visited the distillery in 1885 as part of his whiskey tour, described later, it had an annual production capacity of 85,000  gallons . There were three stills available with capacities of 2500, 1650 and 580 gallons, respectively. However, whether the whiskey was distilled three times or two of the bubbles were used in parallel for the fine distillation is not described. Like other distilleries in Campbeltown, Albyn used water from the Crosshill Loch for mashing .

Like many of Campeltown's distilleries, Albyn was closed during Prohibition in the United States in the 1920s . The buildings were sold and used for other purposes until the last remains of the distillery were demolished in 2005.
