Alder + Eisenhut AG Sports Equipment Manufacturer is a Swiss company that manufactures sports equipment and sells it worldwide. The brand is very well known in Switzerland, as most of the gyms are equipped with Alder + Eisenhut equipment. The company has existed since 1891 and today employs around 140 people in Ebnat-Kappel in Toggenburg in San Gaulle .

history

The founding of today's company Alder + Eisenhut dates back to 1891. At that time, the gymnast and blacksmith Robert Alder-Fierz bought Emil Trachsler's equipment company in Hallau . He started producing his own sports equipment in Küsnacht, Zurich . In 1909 the company merged with the then competitor Gebr. Eisenhut to form R. Alder-Fierz & Gebr. Eisenhut, the first Swiss gymnastics equipment factory . Production was relocated to Toggenburg four years later, where it is still located today.

The company had its own hydroelectric power station to generate energy. The energy was first transferred mechanically, then electrically, to the production halls. The river power station was not shut down until 1970.

The two world wars hit the company because the raw materials wood, steel and vehicles were requisitioned by the federal government and large parts of the workforce had to do military service. After the war, the company recovered quickly and was able to supply the Olympic Games in Melbourne with gymnastics equipment in 1956 . In 1938 one of the Eisenhut brothers had a fatal accident, and in 1952 his brother retired. Nevertheless, the name of the well-known brand was not changed.

In 1966, Robert H. Alder took over the company in the third generation and ran it in the 1970s and 1980s. His successor Robin T. Alder has been running the company since 1996.
