The Aldra windows and doors GmbH , headquartered in Meldorf ( Schleswig-Holstein ) is a manufacturer of windows and doors. As a family company in the fourth generation, Aldra manufactures full-range windows and doors made of plastic, aluminum, wood and wood-aluminum with the brands Aldra and Ewitherm. The company was founded in 1888 by the craftsmen Albers and von Drathen and today produces its elements in Meldorf, Marl , Thedinghausen and Gadebusch .

Aldra developed an award-winning exhibition concept, the Aldra marketplace, and large factory exhibitions and training centers at the Meldorf and Marl locations.

Aldra has a nationwide dealer network and sells its products through more than 500 trading partners - including prefabricated house manufacturers, component dealers, carpenters, building materials dealers and window specialist companies.

history

In 1888 the building and furniture joinery E. Albers & von Drathen was founded. In the 1920s, the production and sale of furniture ceased. From now on, building contractors, carpenters and joineries ordered Aldra's products, such as windows and doors, from the catalog. Export business went to the Netherlands, England and South America.

In 1931 E. Albers and von Drathen KG published the first comprehensive main window and door catalog.

In 1951 Velux prepared the expansion of the company to Germany and was looking for a suitable partner for the production and sale of roof windows on the German market. The decision fell on Albers & v. Drathen (Aldra) in Meldorf. The first Velux roof window was sold on the German market on May 5, 1952, and in June 1952 the first 50 Velux roof windows were produced by the Aldra works in Meldorf.

In 1960, series production of Aldra windows and doors began and the manufacture of standard wooden windows began.

Aldra developed the insulating glass window IV 68 in 1968 and was the first manufacturer to offer the trade a fully glazed window.

In 1976, Bauelemente aus Kunststoff GmbH was founded in Meldorf, responsible for the manufacture of windows and house doors made of plastic (PVC) for northern Germany.

In 1986 the wood production was closed. In 1990, the production of aluminum components began in Meldorf.

In 2002/2003 Aldra presented itself to the market with a new look and an expanded delivery program. In 2005, the second stage of the renewal of Aldra Windows and Doors followed under a new name, new management and with a new structure.

In May 2006 the Aldra Marktplatz Meldorf, the largest window and door exhibition in the north, was opened. In June 2007 the Aldra marketplace was expanded to include the largest front door exhibition in the north (a total of 70 front door models). The concept of the Aldra marketplace as a consulting platform was awarded the German Marketing Prize by the Association for Windows and Facades.

In 2008 the 88plus energy-saving window technology was introduced. In the same year the Aldra market square in Essen was opened.

In 2011, capacity was expanded with the inauguration of a completely new, automated production facility.

In 2012 the products 88plus front door and Aldra ventilation windows were launched, followed by the 88plus lift-and-slide door in 2013. In addition, the Aldra assembly training center for windows and front doors in Meldorf was opened.

Aldra windows and doors GmbH has been producing in Marl again since the beginning of 2014.

The product 76 AD was introduced in 2015: Aldra invested in a new standard and converted its operations to the new system with a depth of 76 mm with improved thermal insulation values.

Aldra has been a full-range supplier since 2016: The wooden product line “Ewitherm” has been marketed under the “Aldra” brand since October 2016 and is handcrafted in Thedinghausen, Lower Saxony . With the materials plastic, aluminum and wood, all needs in the market can now be met.

In the field of plastics, the system tests of burglar-resistant building elements according to resistance class "RC2" were successfully passed in the window institute ift Rosenheim. In the case of wood products, the RC3 test was even successfully passed.
