Believer is a Christian , progressive thrash metal band from Colebrook , Pennsylvania , USA , that was formed in 1986.

history

The band was formed in 1986 by Kurt Bachman (electric guitar, vocals) and Joey Daub (drums). A short time later, guitarist Dave Baddorf and bassist Howe Kraft joined them. The band soon got a contract with REX Records . The debut album Extraction from Morality was released in 1989 on this label. It helped the band sign a deal with Roadrunner Records . The second album Sanity Obscure was released in 1990. Wyatt Robertson was the new bass player on the album. A tour of Europe followed with Sacrifice and Bolt Thrower .

After the tour, guitarist Baddorf and bassist Robertson left the group. For the third album, the band strengthened violinist Scott Laird, his sister Julianne Laird as singer and cellist Glenn Fischbach as session members. Jim Winters became the band's new bass player. The album Dimensions came out in 1993. In 1995 the band broke up for the time being.

Believer got together again in 2007 to release the album Gabriel . In addition to Bachman and Daub, the band now consisted of keyboardist and programmer Jeff King, guitarist Kevin Leaman and bassist and programmer Elton Nestler. The band was from then on with Metal Blade Records under contract.

In 2011 Elton Nestler left the band. The rest of the musicians set about recording a new album. Transhuman was released in April 2011 via Metalblade Records.

Since 2017 a new album has been released piece by piece in the form of three singles so far with the names 1 of 5 , 2 of 5 and 3 of 5 .

style

Believers play technically demanding Thrash Metal, which is often referred to as "Technical Thrash Metal" or "Progressive Thrash Metal". The singing is kept variable, the individual pieces can also be very varied, as technical elements such as samples , but also elements from classical music are used. The band is compared to other bands like Anacrusis , Toxik , Realm and Extol .
