Aleida Guevara March [aˈlɛjda ɣeˈβaɾa] (born November 17, 1960 in Havana , Cuba ) is a Cuban politician , pediatrician and daughter of the famous Argentine- Cuban revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara and his second wife Aleida March de la Torre .

Life

Aleida Guevara was born in Havana in 1960, where she still lives today. Her father is the Cuban revolutionary and folk hero Che Guevara. Her mother, Aleida March, was also a member of the July 26th Movement . Aleida Guevara March is the oldest of the four children of the Guevara March couple. Your siblings are:

  • Camilo (born May 20, 1962; Cuban politician),
  • Celia (born June 14, 1963; Cuban-Argentine marine biologist ) and
  • Ernesto (born February 24, 1965; Cuban lawyer ).

She has a half-sister from her father's first marriage to the Peruvian economist Hilda Gadea (1924–1974): Hilda "Hildita" Beatriz Guevara Gadea (born February 15, 1956 in Mexico City , † August 21, 1995 in Havana). Hilda and Hildita also lived in Havana from 1959. Che Guevara regularly took Hildita into his new family.

Aleida Guevara March is a full-time pediatrician at the William Soler Children's Hospital , and she used to work in Angola , Ecuador and Nicaragua . She is a member and activist of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) . She represents them at events and conferences abroad. She and her brother Camilo Guevara had a close, casual relationship with the former head of state Fidel Castro . According to her own statements, she has “blind faith” in the Cuban government.

Guevara is the mother of two daughters.
