Alejandro Casañas
Alejandro Francisco Casañas Ramírez (born January 29, 1954 in Havana ) is a former Cuban hurdle sprinter .
He won two silver medals in the 110-meter hurdles at the Olympic Games . At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, he reached the goal in 13.33 s behind Guy Drut (13.30 s) and ahead of Willie Davenport (13.38 s). With the Cuban 4 x 100 meter relay , Casañas finished fifth in Montreal. He won his second Olympic medal at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow. In 13.40 s he placed behind Thomas Munkelt (13.39 s) and ahead of Alexander Putschkow (13.44 s).
Casañas achieved further successes at Pan American Games (winner 1975, runner-up 1979 and 1983) as well as at Central American and Caribbean Championships (winner 1977, 1981, 1983, 1985) and at Central American and Caribbean Games (winner 1974, 1978, 1982). In addition, he set a world record in the 110-meter hurdles on August 21, 1977 in Sofia with a time of 13.21 s.
Alejandro Casañas is 1.88 m tall and had a competition weight of 79 kg.
