from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alejandro Castro Espín (born July 29, 1965 in Havana ) is a Cuban politician and military man . He has the rank of Colonel in the Cuban Interior Ministry .

Live and act

Alejandro Castro Espín was born in 1965 as the son of the former President of Cuba , Raúl Castro and the former chairman of the Cuban women's association Vilma Espín . He has three sisters including Mariela , President of the Sex Education Center .

Alejandro Castro, engineer , master in international relations and doctor of political science , began his career in the Cuban military , where he was considered a hopeful junior officer. He took part in the Cuban military operation in Angola , where he was injured in one eye during an exercise and became blind there.

For a long time he was barely noticed in public. It was not until the negotiations to improve relations with the United States that Alejandro Castro appeared as an advisor to his father. He led the small group that conducted secret negotiations with the US government for 18 months. It is believed that he should be prepared for higher tasks. He is assigned a role towards his father Raúl similar to that which he had towards his brother Fidel Castro : an absolutely trustworthy observer. On the other hand, it is unlikely that he will succeed his father in the presidency.
