Aleksa Bjeliš
Aleksa Bjeliš (born February 2, 1947 in Rijeka , Yugoslavia ) was rector of the University of Zagreb .
Life
In 1970 Bjeliš received his bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Zagreb. In 1971 he became an assistant at the Institute of Physics at the University of Zagreb. He stayed there until 1986 and rose to the position of director. During his work, he took his master's degree in 1974. Another four years later he did his doctorate under S. Barišić . In 1986 he became a research assistant, in 1990 associate professor and in 1997 full professor of the physics chair at the University of Zagreb. From 1990 to 1997 he was also Vice Dean , from 2000 to 2002 Dean of the Faculty of Science. In 1995 he took over the chairmanship of the Committee for International Cooperation of the University and remained so until 2002. He was active as a member of the National Council for Higher Education in the Republic of Croatia from 2001 to 2005. In 2002 Aleksa Bjeliš became Vice Director for Science and Development. In 2003 he became the representative of Croatia for the Bologna Follow-Up Group . From 2006 to 2014 he was rector of the University of Zagreb.
