Aleksandar Kostić (sexologist)

Aleksandar Đ. Kostic (in Cyrillic script .: Александар Ђ Костић, born March 6 . Jul / 18th March  1893 greg. In Belgrade ; † 19th January 1983 ) was a professor of medicine and a pioneer of sexology in Yugoslavia .

Life

Aleksandar Kostić studied medicine at the University of Strasbourg and received his doctorate in 1921 with the subject L'action de l'alcoholisme sur le testicule (The effect of alcoholism on the testicles). From 1924 he was Professor of Histology and Embryology at the University of Belgrade .

He translated the book The Sexual Question of Auguste Forel into Serbo-Croatian ( Polno pitanje , 1928). With Das Sexualleben des Menschen (1932) he wrote the first sexual science book in Yugoslavia.

Aleksandar Kostić made a guest appearance in Dušan Makavejev's film A Love Fall (1967).

Aleksandar Kostić was married to Smilja Kostić-Joksić (1895–1981), Professor of Pediatrics . One of his sons was the film composer Vojislav Kostić (1931-2010).
