Aleksandras Čyras

Aleksandras Čyras (born March 15, 1927 in Merkinė , † September 29, 2001 in Vilnius ) was a Lithuanian civil engineer and professor .

Life

In 1950 he graduated with honors from the building faculty of the Kauno universitetas and from 1950 taught at the Kauno politechnikos institutas (KPI), received his doctorate in 1954 and was prorector of the Vilnius branch of the KPI from 1961 to 1969 . In 1966 he completed his habilitation and was rector of the Vilniaus inžinerinis statybos institutas from 1969 to 1990 , and since 1968 professor. In 1985 he received an honorary doctorate from the Bauhochschule Weimar .
