The Aleo Solar GmbH (own notation: aleo solar GmbH ) manufactures and sells solar modules and systems for the international photovoltaic -Markt.
history
The company was founded in 2001 as SMD Solar-Manufaktur Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG in Prenzlau and began producing solar modules in August 2002. The capacity was increased from 15 MW by 2012 to 280 MW. In 2005, SMD was renamed aleo solar AG and Aleo Solar GmbH was renamed aleo solar Deutschland GmbH . Aleo solar AG had been listed on the stock exchange since 2006. In February 2007 the production of solar modules began in Spain (until 2012). Since September 2008 there has also been production in China (until 2012). The plant in Santa Maria de Palautordera , Spain , was closed in 2012, the joint venture with Avim Solar ended in September 2012 and the plant in China was also shut down ( Gaomi , Shandong Province).
Aleo Solar AG has been majority owned by the Bosch Group since 2009 . On March 22, 2013, Bosch announced its intention to part with its solar division. In September 2013, the company announced the dissolution of the US subsidiary based in Denver .
In February 2014, a contract was signed with SCP Solar GmbH , a consortium of several Asian investors, founded in January 2014 . On April 16, 2014, the extraordinary general meeting resolved with a majority of Bosch votes to dissolve the stock corporation. On May 16, 2014, SCP Solar took over production in Prenzlau (120 megawatts annual capacity), the “aleo” brand and around 200 employees from the (old) aleo solar AG as part of an asset deal . Then SCP Solar GmbH changed its name to aleo solar GmbH.

Aleo solar AG went public in July 2006. The Bosch Group has acquired an increasing majority of shares over the years, reaching the 75% threshold on February 28, 2011 and then increasing this stake to over 90%. In mid-2011 the rate rose to over 26 euros, but fell in the following years, also due to the crisis in the solar industry .
Another major shareholder was Wilhelm Konrad Thomas Zours with over 4%. The remainder were in the free float of around 1,600 small shareholders. Until 2014, the share was still available on the regulated market on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and on the open market on the Munich and Hamburg stock exchanges.

The production and administration location of the operationally active Aleo Solar GmbH is Prenzlau. Aleo solar AG had its administrative headquarters in Oldenburg (Lower Saxony). There were sales offices in Australia, Great Britain, Spain and the USA, each with their own companies. In Asia, Aleo Solar AG operated with the joint venture Avim Solar Production Co. Ltd. until 2012. involved. An Italian subsidiary was taken over by SCP Solar GmbH.
