alesco is a Europe-wide manufacturer of flexible plastic packaging made of polyethylene and packaging paper.
The company is one of the first manufacturers of Coex - bioplastics in Europe. With a high proportion of renewable raw materials , such as B. corn starch, films are produced that, unlike pure PLA films, are flexible and offer very food-friendly barrier properties. The films are also compostable.
Alesco GmbH & Co. KG employs around 210 people at two production sites in Langerwehe and Alsdorf . The production volume is around 45,000 tons per year with sales of around 75 million euros per year.
history
founding
In 1943 Ewald Schoeller founds the company "Ewald Schoeller GmbH & Co.KG" in Langerwehe . On the former site of a needle factory, he begins manufacturing paper products and yarn. After the company premises were completely destroyed in the Second World War , Ewald Schoeller GmbH began to manufacture plastic containers and plastic films made of polyethylene after reconstruction . A short time later, the company management bought their first printing machine and took over the film manufacturer Aldo-Plastik in Alsdorf .
growth
Until 1980, the traditional company served the German market exclusively. To open up international markets as well, sales offices are opened in the Netherlands and Belgium . The company now sells its packaging solutions across Europe .
Naming and renaming
In 2004 the two plants in Langerwehe and Alsdorf were merged under the name "Schoeller-Aldo GmbH & Co KG".
In 2007, a reorientation of the company was on the program with the aim of a stronger focus on the core film business. SCHOELLER-ALDO became alesco. The packaging film and packaging paper sectors operate under this name.
In addition, in 2007 the hollow body area was split off and renamed aldoplast GmbH u Co KG. This branch of business was sold to Siepe GmbH in Kerpen in October 2009 and has been continued at the Kerpen site under SICON GmbH u Co KG since then.

Bio films
The company alesco is one of the first providers of a compostable coex film made from renewable raw materials . Sacks as well as printed and unprinted bags are among the first products of the bio-film , which can also be disposed of in the conventional bio-bin . The Tüv-Rheinland Group and the German Institute for Standardization confirm the environmental compatibility and compostability of the biofoil in accordance with DIN EN 13432 . It is therefore allowed to carry the "seedling".
