Alessandro Quaroni

Alessandro Quaroni (* 1934 in Rome ) is a former Italian diplomat and knight of the Sovereign Order of Malta , whom he has represented as ambassador to Austria since 2006 .

Alessandro Quaroni was born in Rome in 1934 as the son of the Italian diplomat Pietro Quaroni . He has a doctorate. From 1958 he was active in the diplomatic service of the Italian Republic. From 1958 to November 2001 he was employed in the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During his diplomatic career he was Italian ambassador to Austria from 1987 to 1992 , Italian ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 1994 to 1998 , and then from 1998 to 2001 Italian ambassador to Sweden . In November 2001 Quaroni retired.

He made his diplomatic skills available to the Sovereign Order of Malta . In January 2002 he became Secretary General for Foreign Affairs of the Order in Rome . In 2006 he replaced Gioacchino Malfatti di Montetretto as the Order's ambassador in Austria.

Quaroni is married and has three children. He speaks fluent German .
