Alessandro Rinaldi (born April 16, 1987 in Alzano Lombardo ) is a former Italian grass skier . He started in the World Cup from 2003 to 2005 and took part in three Junior World Championships .

Career

Rinaldi contested his first FIS races in June 2003 in Traisen . His best result was 19th place in the slalom. Three weeks later, he finished tenth in the Rettenbach slalom in the top 10 for the first time. At the end of July he started at the Junior World Championships in Goldingen , where he reached two fourth places in slalom and combined as well as ninth place in Super-G, but failed in giant slalom. A week later he contested his first World Cup races in Forni di Sopra . He finished 28th in the giant slalom and 30th in the Super-G and thus got his first World Cup points. At the Junior World Championships in 2004 in Rettenbach, Rinaldi reached seventh place in slalom and in combination as well as 14th place in giant slalom and 25th place in Super-G. In July and August he took part in the World Cup races in Forni di Sopra and Nové Město na Moravě and came in the top 30 three times, placing him 38th in the overall ranking for the 2004 season .

In the 2005 season, the Italian was among the fastest 22 in all six World Cup races. His best results were two eleventh places in the second slalom of L'Aquila and the combination of Forni di Sopra. He reached 19th place in the overall World Cup with the same number of points as his compatriot Marco Colombin . He also achieved his best result in an FIS race with seventh place in the Chiomonte slalom . Rinaldi got three top 10 results at the Junior World Championships 2005 in Nové Město na Moravě. He was fifth in the slalom, ninth in the Super-G and thus sixth in the combination. In the giant slalom he finished 15th. After this Junior World Championship, the Italian did not contest any more grass ski races.

Until 2006, Rinaldi also took part in competitions in alpine skiing . His best result at an FIS race was 14th place in the Aprica slalom in January 2005.
