Alessia Maria Mosca (born May 23, 1975 in Monza ) is an Italian politician of the Partito Democratico . She was a member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2019 .

Life

Mosca studied philosophy at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan until 1999 . The following year she obtained a master's degree in diplomacy from the Istituto per gli studi di politica internazionale (ISPI) and in 2001 a diploma in international relations from the branch of Johns Hopkins University in Bologna. From 2003 to 2004 she worked for the aerospace company Alenia Aeronautica . She then worked as an assistant in the European Parliament until 2006. She received her PhD in Political Science from the University of Florence in 2006 .

In 2000 she joined the Giovani Popolari , the youth organization of the Christian Democratic Partito Popolare Italiano (PPI). From 2001 to 2003 she was Vice-Chairwoman of the Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP). In 2002, the PPI became part of the Democrazia è Libertà - La Margherita party , to which Mosca was a member until 2007. From 2006 to 2008 she worked in the technical secretariat of the Undersecretary of the Prime Minister, her party friend Enrico Letta .

La Margherita merged with the Democratici di Sinistra in 2007 to form the center-left rallying party Partito Democratico (PD), of which Mosca has been a member since then. In the same year she was in charge of the Partito Democratico's labor policy. In the parliamentary elections in 2008 she was elected to represent the constituency of Lombardy 3 in the Italian Chamber of Deputies , to which she was a member until 2014. There was a member of the Labor Committee from 2008–13. At the World Economic Forum 2009 she was appointed to the group of " Young Global Leaders ". After her re-election in 2013, she was a member of the EU Policy Committee and Italian delegate to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly until she left in June 2014 .

Mosca was in the 2014 European elections to the European Parliament , where they elected the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists belonged. She was Vice-Chair of the Delegation for Relations with the Arabian Peninsula and a member of the Committee on International Trade . In the European elections in 2019 they missed the re-entry.
