Alessio Boni (born July 4, 1966 in Sarnico ) is an Italian theater and film actor .

Life

Boni graduated from the Italian drama academy Accademia nazionale d'arte drammatica in 1992 . He began working as an actor at the theater in 1988 and then took supporting roles in film and television productions. His breakthrough came in 1998 with a leading role in the television series La Donna del Treno (German: The woman on the train ). With the leading role in the television series Incantesimo 3 , he was able to increase his popularity in Italy. In 2003 he played Matteo in Marco Tullio Giordana's La meglio gioventù - The best years . In 2005 Alessio Boni worked in Cristina Comencini La bestia nel cuore , which was an Italian competition entry for the Oscar for best foreign language film in 2006 .

In 2008 he was seen as Andreij Bolkonskij from War and Peace in a European co-production. In the same year, the internationally successful and award-winning film Caravaggio , directed by Angelo Longoni, came on television in which Boni plays the painter Michelangelo Merisi called Caravaggio.
