Alex Callinicos
Alex Callinicos (* 1950 in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe ) is a British Marxist intellectual and a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) in Great Britain, which is part of the International Socialist Tendency .
Callinicos is Professor of European Studies at King's College London . He was previously Professor of Political Science at the University of York .
His father was an active member of the Greek resistance against the National Socialist occupation during World War II . His mother comes from the English aristocracy and is the granddaughter of the famous historian Lord Acton .
