Alex Moore (blues musician)
"Whistlin '" Alex Moore (born November 22, 1899 as Alexander Herman Moore in Dallas ; † January 20, 1989 ibid) was an American singer and piano player of the Texas blues .
After his father's death, he had to leave school to work at the age of eleven.
In the early 1920s he made his first appearances at parties and in clubs, after having been heard on the radio a few years earlier. In 1929 he recorded his first three records for Columbia Records . In the following period he continued to perform, and in 1937 he made further recordings for Decca Records .
In 1987, two years before his death, he was honored for his life's work by the “ National Endowment for the Arts ” foundation .
