Alexander Carl commemorative coin

The Alexander-Carl memorial coin was donated on May 8, 1853 by Duke Alexander Carl von Anhalt-Bernburg as a reward for officers , NCOs , men and military officials who were in active service from March 1, 1848 to October 1, 1849 Country and have distinguished themselves through exemplary leadership.

The bronze medal shows the four-line inscription 1848 ALEXANDER CARL 1849 and HIS BRAVEN WARRIORS * FOR UNSAVEABLE LOYALTY * all around . On the back you can see the crowned coat of arms of Anhalt underlaid with two crossed swords. Above it in a semicircle the words Fear God and obey his commands . A wreath made of laurel leaves ( left) and oak leaves (right) runs around the coat of arms .

The award was worn on a white ribbon with dark green central and side stripes on the left chest.

After the owner's death, the award had to be returned.
