Alexander Alexandrovich Wedernikov

Alexander Alexandrowitsch Wedernikow ( Russian Александр Александрович Ведерников , scientific transliteration Aleksandr Aleksandrovič Vedernikov ; born January 11, 1964 in Moscow ) is a Russian conductor .

Alexander Wedernikow was born into a musical family in 1964. His father Alexander Filippowitsch Wedernikow was a bass singer at the Bolshoi Theater , his mother Natalia Gureyeva a professor of organ at the Moscow Conservatory . He himself studied at the aforementioned conservatory and completed his postgraduate studies there in 1990.

From 1988 to 1990 Wedernikow worked at the Moscow Stanislavsky and Nemirowitsch-Danchenko Music Theater . From 1988 to 1995 he was the second conductor and assistant to the chief conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev at the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra of Moscow Radio . In 1995 he founded the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra . Until 2004 he was artistic director and chief conductor of this orchestra.

From 2001 to 2009 Wedernikow worked as music director and first conductor of the Bolshoi Theater. Here he worked u. a. 2007 a new production by Boris Godunow in Mussorgski's original orchestration. From 2009 to 2018 he was chief conductor of the Odense Symphony Orchestra . In 2018 he became chief conductor at the Royal Danish Theater in Copenhagen , and in 2019 music director and chief conductor at the Mikhailovsky Theater in Saint Petersburg .
