Alexander Alexandrovich Vishnevsky

Alexander Alexandrovich Vishnevsky ( Russian Александр Александрович Вишневский ; born May 13, jul. / 26. May  1906 greg. In Kazan ; † 19th December 1975 in Moscow ) was a Soviet Surgeon Ukrainian descent, a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1953 ), Honored Research Associate of the RSFSR (1956), Lieutenant General (1963) and later Colonel General (1966) of the Medical Service and Hero of Socialist Labor (1966). Wischnewski first performed cardiac surgery with local anesthesia in 1953 . He is considered to be a pioneer of bypass surgery and heart and lung transplants in the Soviet Union.

As the son of Alexander Wassiljewitsch Vishnevsky , he carefully worked out the new methods relating to the treatment of gunshot wounds on the Eastern Front of World War II. Vishnevsky later received several Soviet and foreign awards and prizes.
