Irene Schubiger

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Irene Schubiger (born September 1, 1948 in Näfels ) is a Swiss artist who works with plastic , drawing , watercolor painting and textile art .

Live and act

In 1973 Irene Schubiger completed her studies at the Zurich University of the Arts . She paints watercolors with mostly non-representational compositions and text fragments that suggest a reference to her own biography. She creates her sculptures from materials such as plaster of paris, styrofoam, paper mache and wood, which she covers with a silicone layer, thus blurring the shape.

Konrad Tobler wrote in the magazine Kunstbulletin about her exhibition entitled tout rêvé ( all dreamed , 2010) : “The exhibition title says it all : Irene Schubiger's works are, as real and present in space, always in a state of suspension . The artist draws from ambivalent childhood memories. [...] So it is a very special, a very fragile and poetic world of things that the [...] artist creates with her mostly greatly reduced sculptures. "

Irene Schubiger lives and works in Reichenbach near Bern.
