Friedrich Wilhelm Alexander Barthel (* 1859 / 1860 in Braunschweig ; † 19th November 1901 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German theater actor .

Life

His father was the court painter Gustav Adolf Barthel , his uncle the literary historian Karl Barthel . Since his father had no objection to the desire to become an actor, he dared his first attempt after graduating from secondary school at the summer theater in Celle.

He found his next engagement at the court theater of his hometown, where he perfected himself artistically under the guidance of Karl Hiltl .

He then worked at the Stadttheater Hamburg and then made his debut at the Meininger Hoftheater.

Occasionally, during a guest appearance by Meininger in Berlin, Adolph L'Arronge became aware of him and hired him to succeed Kainz at the German Theater.

He worked at the Deutsches Theater for two years when he joined the Association of the Frankfurt City Theater in 1892. Several guest tours followed. In 1900, his participation in the Schiller Festival in Düsseldorf was unanimously recognized by critics and the public.

The artist was a member of the Frankfurt City Theater until his death on November 19, 1901.
