Alexander Fischer (Mayor)

Alexander Fischer (born December 18, 1963 in Wuppertal ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is the full-time mayor of the Westphalian district town of Höxter .

Life

Alexander Fischer studied economics and law at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster . In 1995 he opened a law firm in Höxter with a focus on fines, criminal , traffic and contract law . Since 2004 he has been a member of the city council of Höxter.

He has a daughter.

Mayor's office

After the CDU mayor Hermann Hecker retired, Alexander Fischer was elected mayor of the city of Höxter with 38.46 percent of the valid votes in 2009. This was the first time that Höxter had an SPD mayor since 1946. Fischer had previously been one of the deputy mayors of Höxter. In 2014 he was re-elected with 57.96 percent of the valid votes in a runoff election that he won against the former Interior Minister Uwe Schünemann . One year before the end of his term of office, he announced his decision not to run again in the next election because he would like to orientate himself professionally.
