Hermann Hecker

Hermann Hecker (born June 29, 1941 in Höxter ; died May 1, 2020 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1999 to 2009 he was mayor of the district town of Höxter.

Life

Hecker was born in Höxter and grew up in what is now the Ovenhausen district.

On October 1, 1970, he began his service at the city of Höxter as head of the legal office , later became treasurer , then department head and treasurer. In 1991 the council of the city of Höxter elected him as alderman and in 1997 as first councilor. In 1999, Hecker was directly elected by the citizens as the first full-time mayor after the municipal constitutional reform and was re-elected in 2004. Because he had reached the age limit of 68 years, Hecker did not stand for re-election.

In 2009, Hecker received the Hoexter Ring of Honor for his many years of political activity.

He was married to Wilma geb. Husemann and had a son and a daughter. Hecker died on May 1, 2020 in his hometown at the age of 78 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany of the consequences of COVID-19 .
