Alexander Georg von Bulmerincq
Alexander Georg von Bulmerincq (born August 16, 1909 in Jurjew , † 1945 near Posen ) was a German-Baltic Orientalist and interpreter .
Bulmerincq was the son of the Old Testament scholar Alexander von Bulmerincq and his wife Marie, b. from Stiernheim. His great-grandfather was the doctor Michael von Bulmerincq . He passed his Abitur in Dorpat and studied oriental studies at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen . Here he became a member of the country team Scotland . He was a student of Enno Littmann and graduated with a master's degree. He was unable to finish his doctoral project at Littmann due to military service.
Bulmerincq was trained as an interpreter and drafted into the Wehrmacht in October 1942. During the Second World War he was first deployed to North Africa, where he acted as chief interpreter for Field Marshal Erwin Rommel . After the surrender in North Africa, he came to the Eastern Front. In 1945 Alexander von Bulmerincq fell in a battle near Posen.
