Alexander Goldstein (writer)

Alexander Leonidovich Goldstein (born December 15, 1957 in Tallinn , Estonia , † July 16, 2006 in Tel Aviv-Jaffa , Israel ) was a Russian writer and essayist . He has been awarded the Russian Little Booker Prize and the Anti-Booker Prize , among others . He was posthumously honored with the Andrei Bely Prize , which he was awarded in the prose category.

Life

Born in Tallinn as the son of Leonid Goldstein, Alexander Goldstein lived in Baku ( Azerbaijan ) from earliest childhood and later studied literature at Baku State University . In 1991 he emigrated to Israel and lived in Tel-Aviv until his death. He worked as a journalist for the Israeli newspaper Vesti and was on the editorial board of the Russian-Israeli magazine Zerkalo . His articles have been published in Parting from Narcissus (1997) and Aspects of Spiritual Matrimony (2001). In 2004 his novel Denk an Famagusta was published by the Moscow publishing house NLO. The novel was first published in German by Regine Kühn in 2016 by Matthes & Seitz Berlin .
