Alexander Iven
Alexander Iven (born May 18, 1854 in Wegberg ; † January 2, 1934 in Cologne ) was a German sculptor .
Biography and work
Alexander Iven studied in Leuven and then went on study trips to northern France, Italy and the Rhineland. He took up his residence in Cologne and created numerous works of art from here, such as the tympanum on the main portal and groups of figures at the side entrances to St. Marien in Düsseldorf or the figure of Rainald von Dassels in Cologne Cathedral . In Koblenz he created colored seated figures of Maria and Joseph in the Herz-Jesu-Kirche . Further works can be found in Berlin and Duisburg.
His grave is in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (lit. H, between lit. B + C).
