politics

In the spring of 2013 he joined the AfD. In May 2014 he was elected to the Iserlohn City Council on the AfD's list and was chairman of the AfD's parliamentary group there.

In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , he ran as a direct candidate in the state electoral district of Märkischer Kreis I and ranked 11th on the state list, through which he entered the state parliament for the AfD. On September 26, 2017, he and Marcus Pretzell announced his departure from the AfD parliamentary group and left it on September 27, 2017. His departure from the AfD parliamentary group and the party is not easy for him, he told the Iserlohner Kreisanzeiger , however the step has to do with his personal integrity. A little later, his colleague Frank Neppe , a long-time member of the state board and treasurer of the AfD NRW, left the parliamentary group.
