Dirk Alexander Morlang (born August 18, 1974 in Hamburg ) is a former German politician of the Pirate Party .

Morlang is a system administrator by profession. He joined the party in mid-2009. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 on September 18, 2011, Morlang won a seat for the Berlin House of Representatives . There he was briefly chairman of the committee for digital administration, data protection and freedom of information and, as a free radio operator and member of the Chaos Computer Club, focuses on topics relating to the information society .

He is a founding member of the LXDE Foundation.

Morlang caused a sensation by refusing to publish his additional income for months, although he had previously supported corresponding resolutions of the Pirate Party.

On April 16, 2013, Morlang resigned as chairman of the committee for digital administration, data protection and freedom of information in the Berlin House of Representatives for personal reasons. The resignation came after the SPD had announced that it would deliberate on a motion to vote out because Morlang had attracted attention through insults, failure to report his additional income, an almost brawl in the House of Representatives and cutting off words in the committee. In 2016 he left parliament. He resigned from the Pirate Party on September 22, 2016.
