Alexander Walentinowitsch Nowak ( Russian Александр Валентинович Новак ; born August 23, 1971 in Avdiivka ) is a Russian politician .

Life

Nowak studied economics at the Norilsk Industrial Institute in the early 1990s .

From 1999 to 2000 he was Deputy Director of Human Resources and Director of the Norilsk Mining Company. From 2000 to 2002 he was the first deputy head of the city of Norilsk for financial and economic issues. Between 2002 and 2007, Nowak served as the deputy governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory , where he headed the main finance department of the territory administration.

In September 2008, Nowak was appointed Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation , before serving as the first deputy governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory for a short period (2007-2008). From October 2008 he will sit on the board of the Russian Ministry of Finance.

Since May 2012 he has been Minister of Energy in the Cabinet of the Government of the Russian Federation of Prime Ministers Dmitri Anatolyevich Medvedev and Michael Mishustin .

Private

Nowak is married and has two children.

According to a spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Energy, Nowak tested positive for the corona virus during a business trip to Kamchatka in August 2020 . The coronavirus diagnosis was confirmed by two more tests on his return to Moscow.
