Alexander Schug

Alexander Schug (born August 29, 1973 in Essen ) is a German historian.

After completing his community service in Poland, Alexander Schug studied history , sociology and journalism at the Technical University of Dresden , the University of London and the Humboldt University in Berlin . He then worked for several years as a freelancer for various museums and media from the print, radio and television sectors. He was a PR consultant at the German communications agency Pleon in Berlin and joined Wolfgang Hardtwig in 2007PhD in Modern and Contemporary History from Humboldt University. Schug is a lecturer in applied history at the Humboldt University in Berlin and a member of the Association of German Business Archivists . In 2000 he founded the Past Agency and in 2008 the Past Publishing House . In 2010 he graduated from Humboldt University with a dissertation on "German Culture" and Advertising. PhD studies on the history of commercial advertising from 1918 to 1945 .

Schug's main focus is on public relations, brand and company history, as well as consumer, popular and design history. Together with Hilmar Sack, he runs the Past Agency in Berlin, where he researches and publishes on various historical topics on behalf of organizations, associations and companies, but also private individuals. In conjunction with the Humboldt University, Schug developed an archive for the demolition of the Palace of the Republic , which is kept as a special collection owned by the Berlin State Archives . This also included the conception of an exhibition for the 100th anniversary of the Kaffee Hag coffee brand , the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage and the 200th anniversary of Alexanderplatz . In 2012 he founded FRED & OTTO - Der Hundeverlag .
