Alexander Sehestedt , also Alexander Sehested , († September 6, 1617 ) was a German nobleman , lord of Gut Güldenstein and monastery provost of Uetersen .

Life

He came from the influential noble family Sehestedt and was master of the Güldenstein estate, which he sold to Heinrich von der Wisch in 1608 . In 1613 he stabbed Benedict Pogwisch, the son of Claus and Meta Pogwisch , née Blome , by chance at a dance event . He was elected provost of the Uetersen monastery in 1609 and had constant arguments with the prioress Catharina Pogwisch because of the high travel costs from his place of residence in Stade. One report said: A. Sehestedt would have sat 14 miles from the monastery ... but when he was in the Stade for a year, he always had his horses in the monastery. Provost Alexander Sehestedt was paid 200 Thaler annually by the monastery for his effort, diligence and faithful advice, as well as the subsistence and expenses for every necessary "stopover" . Alexander Sehestedt died on September 6th, 1617, his successor should initially be Wulf Blome zu Testorf, who refused. After some quarrels between the prioress and the older maids of the monastery, Sievert was elected by Pogwisch as the new provost of the monastery.
