Alexander Steinbacher

Alexander Steinbacher (born January 29, 1931 ; † April 16, 2009 ) was a German pianist .

After studying piano and choir conducting at the music academies in Vienna and Regensburg, he was initially solo répétiteur at the Bavarian State Opera . From October 1, 1964 to March 31, 2001, he taught as a professor at the Munich University of Music . Steinbacher worked as a répétiteur at the university.

In his work as a concert and song accompanist, he worked with well-known singers, including the tenor Fritz Wunderlich . In addition, he campaigned for the promotion of young singers within the framework of the Kaminsky Foundation and led various opera and song courses for young singers.

His daughter Arabella is a distinguished German violinist.
