Alexander Varga von Kibéd and Makfalva (Hungarian: Sándor Kibédi Varga ) (born March 18, 1902 in Szentgerice , Hungary , today: Gălăţeni , Romania ; † June 17, 1986 in Munich ) was a German - Hungarian philosopher .

Life

After attending grammar school in Kolozsvár , Alexander Varga von Kibéd studied philosophy at the Universities of Szeged , Budapest , Berlin and Heidelberg . After teaching at the University of Budapest, he was professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich from 1951 and at the Munich University of Education from 1959 . Varga von Kibéd's main interests were epistemology and transcendental philosophy ; he was considered a specialist in the philosophy of Immanuel Kant .

family

Varga von Kibéd came from a Hungarian noble family; his mother was also a Hungarian noblewoman. He was married twice. He had two sons with his first wife; from his second marriage to Mariamalie, geb. Rudeloff, Rolf Hetsch's widowed wife , comes from Matthias Varga von Kibéd , who also became a philosopher.
