Alexander Wassiljewitsch Berdnikow
Alexander Wassiljewitsch Berdnikow ( Russian Александр Васильевич Бердников ; born April 8, 1953 in Gorno-Altaisk ) is a Russian politician and since 2006 President of the Altai Republic .
He worked for the criminal militia in Gorno-Altaysk in the 1970s and 1980s . From 1993 to 2002 he was the interior minister of the republic. On January 20, 2006, he took office as President of the Republic in place of his predecessor Mikhail Lapschin , the founder of the Agrarian Party .
