Alexander Zerfass

Alexander Zerfaß (born February 25, 1978 in Simmern / Hunsrück ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and professor of liturgical science .

Life

From 1997 to 2004 he studied Catholic theology, Latin and Greek philology , ancient history and philosophy at the University of Mainz . From 2003 to 2005 he was a member of the Graduate School Spiritual Song and Hymn interdisciplinary ( German Research Foundation ) in Mainz . After receiving his doctorate in 2007 as Dr. theol. through the Catholic Theological Faculty of the JGU Mainz (PhD supervisor: Hansjakob Becker ) he was research assistant in the project Documents for the Renewal of the Liturgy ( Swiss National Fund ) at the University of Friborg (Switzerland) (head: Martin Klöckener ) from 2007 to 2008 . After the habilitation and award of the venia legendi for liturgical science and homiletics in 2015 by the Catholic-Theological Faculty of JGU Mainz with the habilitation thesis: On the way to Emmaus. He teaches the hermeneutics of reading scriptures in the liturgical service of the mass as a university professor for liturgical science and sacramental theology at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Salzburg .
